Remember that rain we had a few weeks ago? I know, how could we forget! It was craziness! This is what our backyard looked like. The drains couldn't keep up with all of the rain. It was like a swimming pool was over our house and it burst!
Well, it didn't all stay in the backyard either. This past spring we put a garden along the other side of the house and the dirt we took out we filled in the planter along the back. Obviously it's a NO NO to put dirt up higher than the slab of your house. Who knew??
We tried to vacuum up the water as fast as we could. It was coming in both rooms all along the back of the house.

We took lots of pictures for insurance purposes, they told us to pull the carpet back and dry out the pad--- guess what, insurance doesn't cover this!

I quickly called a company in the phone book. Turned out they are highly recommended! They came right away and cut open the wall and put up three of these LOUD fans. If we wanted things to dry fast we needed to keep them running all day and all night.

Things weren't drying so we had the drywall replaced. Two guys came and in about six hours they had replaced the wall all along the back of the house in both rooms.

They did a great job, you can't even tell that some of the wall was taken out and replaced. Then the next day another group of guys came and replaced the pad and stretched out the carpet and then cleaned it.

Our family/dining/everything room wasn't drying because the pad under the wood floor was soaked. Man, the nice floor that my wonderful husband put in five years ago needed to come up! So, sad! We were able to save most of the planks and hopefully can find a box or two to match so we can put it back down.

We had just laid the wood floor over this brown, cold, spanish tile. So, I guess it's good that we are not living on concrete! (think positive!) Our kitchen still has wood and the hallway into the bathroom still has wood. The tile floor looks terrible in this picture...after a few mops it looks okay... not great!

Then....paint time! I thought about doing a color change. But, that would require picking out a new color, painting all the other walls, buying more paint.... I had just enough paint left over to finish both rooms. The kids wanted to know who loved who...
does Jenn love Jeff or Jeff love Jenn!!

Jeff spent most of his time in the backyard. He dug out a ton of dirt (wait, I did help with that too) and put in a new drain system. What a pain!!!!
